The Plan allows you to choose from two different plans1, each providing a one-stop insurance protection for personal accident, annual travel and home contents. In addition, the Home Protection provides plans with different coverage for homes of different gross floor areas, allowing you to choose an appropriate protection to satisfy your needs.

Notes:

1.
Basic Benefits consist of Gold Plan and Silver Plan for your selection. If Gold Plan is selected, all insured items in the policy will be under the Gold Plan, except for Home Protection where the insured may select to insure under the Gold Plan or Gold Value Plan if the gross floor area of his/her home is 750 square feet or below. The same applies if Silver Plan is selected.
2.
The insured is required to apply for Basic Benefits before he/she can apply for optional benefits.
3.
If the buildings exceed 40 years of age or the home's gross floor area is more than 1,500 square feet, premium and the terms will be provided separately.

III. Home Protection

  • A comprehensive range of protections for home contents, personal accident, legal liability (including homeowner's legal liability in the home or the common area of the residential building, domestic helper's legal liability due to his/her negligence arising out of and in the course of employment and tenants' liability) and employees' compensation for unlimited number of domestic helpers
  • Applicable to rented-out, self-occupied or rented properties
  • Compensation for legal liability of up to HK$12,000,000 in case of any third party's death, bodily injury or property damage caused by your and/or your family members' negligence at home

Notes:
1.
The maximum benefit for accidental death or permanent total disablement caused by traveling in public transportation or private car is HK$4,000,000, while the maximum benefit for accidental death or permanent total disablement caused by other accidents is HK$2,000,000.

Students overseas travel cover is only available to unmarried full-time students aged between 6 weeks and 17 years old, who study in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ("HKSAR"). The student must be accompanied and with the custody care by an adult for the entire journey.
 
4.
The Security Bureau of the Government of HKSAR has launched the Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) System which uses amber, red and black signals to differentiate among different levels of risk. This system will cover the countries which are more popular travel destinations for HKSAR residents aiming to help HKSAR residents better understand the risk or threat to personal safety in travelling overseas.
 
5.
"Typhoon or rainstorm season" means the period from July to September every year. The proximate cause of claim for loss must be due to typhoon or the rainstorm which must occur in HKSAR.
 
6.
If the buildings exceed 40 years of age or the home's gross floor area is more than 1,500 square feet, premium and the terms will be provided separately.

2. Legal Liability
  Protects against the legal liability occurring at home in the event of your and/or your family members' negligence, in the following personal capacity causing any third party's death, bodily injury or property damage:
  (a) as private householder occupying the home; or
  (b) as owner(s) of the home
  Extended Coverage
  (A) Home Owners Liability:
    (A1) If you are not the owner of the home, protection is extended to protect the owner of the home against legal liability solely arising out of the occupation by you and/or your family members of the home. During the period of insurance, the home must be possessed by the owner, in the name of a company and/or a director of that company and provided to you, as an employee, for accommodation.
    (A2) Protection is extended to protect the owner of the home against legal liability arising out of the common parts of the building of which the home is insured, caused by the negligence of the Owner's Corporation and/or Property Management Company of the building and/or the owner of the home.
  (B) Tenant's Liability: protection is extended to protect against the legal liabilities for damages to the rented and occupied home caused by your and/or your family members' negligence in the capacity of tenants.
  (C) Worldwide Personal Liability: protection is extended to protect against the legal liability for any third party's death, bodily injury or property damage caused by your and/or your family members' negligence whilst outside the home or during a temporary visit of not exceeding 30 days outside HKSAR.
  (D) Domestic Helper Liability: protection is extended to protect against the legal liability for any third party's death, bodily injury or property damages caused by your domestic helper's negligence arising out of and in the course of employment

10.   • All Protection: Pre-existing physical defects, act of war, civil commotion, act of terrorism (inapplicable to insured item 1 - Employer's Liability of Domestic Helper Protection), professional sports competition, suicide, pregnancy, influence of alcohol, drug addiction, AIDS, traveling for the purpose of studying (inapplicable to Free Student Overseas Travel Cover under Annual Travel Protection), migration, business trip involving any dangerous assignments, projects or occupation of a manual nature.
  • Home Protection: Wear and tear; electrical or mechanical breakdown; contact lenses, portable phones, pagers, deliberate or malicious act, war, act of terrorism, damages due to poor construction or lack of maintenance of the buildings, damages caused by any unexplained or mysterious disappearance, and consequential loss; damages caused by water seepage.
  • Golfers Protection: Any person with occupation as golfer; failure to provide certificate of proof from a recognised golf club1 for a hole-in-one; or loss or damage caused by or resulting from wear and tear or deterioration.


Enrollment Age and Other Restrictions:

  • The insured and his/her spouse must be aged 18 or above, and the insured must be one of the insured persons.
  • All insured person(s) must be ordinarily residing and legal resident(s) of the HKSAR and aged between 6 weeks and 75 years old, renewal age is up to 80 years old (except for domestic helper).
  • If the insured category is "Insured and Family", the maximum benefit for all insured persons under Personal Accident Protection, Annual Travel Protection or Golfers Protection shall not exceed 200% in aggregate of the amount specified in each covered item under each Protection's insured plan. At the time of the incident, if the "Insured and Family" includes child(ren), such limitation shall not be applicable to "Items 1 and 7 under Personal Accident Protection" , "Items 1, 2, 11 and 13 under Annual Travel Protection" and "Items 1 and 2 of Golfers Protection".
  • If the insured terminates the Plan prior to the expiry date of the policy, he/she will still be required to pay at least 50% of the total annual premium.


Claims Notice:

  • The insured should give written notice to BOCG Insurance as soon as possible in case of any claims.
  • In case of any burglary / theft / robbery or any other similar attempt, please report to the police immediately.
  • In case of any loss of money or property, the insured and/or his/her family and/or his/her domestic helper(s) must report to the police and obtain a report at the place of loss within 24 hours of discovery.
  • The insured and/or his/her family members and/or his/her domestic helper(s) must give written notice to BOCG Insurance and submit the following documents (at his/her own expenses) as soon as possible within 30 days after occurrence of the event: detailed description of the event, list of damaged/loss items, repair or replacement quote and other relevant documents
  • Any writ, summons or other legal proceedings issued or commenced against the insured and/or his/her family members and/or his/her domestic helper(s) must be sent to BOCG Insurance immediately for processing.
  • The insured and/or his/her family members and/or his/her domestic helper(s) must not make any commitment to pay or pay any compensation to a third party without prior written consent from BOCG Insurance.
  • The insured and/or his/her family members and/or his/her domestic helper(s) must not dispose of or replace any damaged insured items without prior written consent from BOCG Insurance.

1. Who is eligible to apply for "BOC Family Comprehensive Protection Plan" (the "Plan")?
All legal residents ordinarily residing in Hong Kong and aged between 18 and 75 are eligible to apply for the Plan.
2. What is the meaning of the "Insured and Family"? Are the insured's parents included?
The "Insured and Family" refer to legally married couples and all of their legitimate child(ren) aged between 6 weeks and 17 years old, who are unmarried and not at work. The insured's parents are not included, but if the parents live with the insured, they can be covered under the "Home Protection" benefit.
3. What are the advantages of a one-stop comprehensive protection policy, compared with an individual insurance policy?
A one-stop comprehensive protection policy covers the protection for personal accident, annual travel, home, domestic helper and golfers under one single policy, saving you from the hassle of managing more than one policy. The total premium of a comprehensive protection policy is also relatively competitive.
4. What are the application requirements for this Plan?
The insured is required to apply for at least two out of three basic benefits under the Plan before they can apply for the optional benefits.
Basic benefits include personal accident, annual travel and home protection.
Optional benefits include domestic helper and golfers protection.
5. What are the differences between the "Personal Accident Protection" in the Plan and those personal accident insurance generally available in the market?
The general individual personal accident insurance in the market allows the insured person to choose their own sum insured, and the premium is usually calculated based on the sum insured and the occupation of the insured person. The "Personal Accident Protection" provides two choices with fixed insured amount and fixed premium for customers' choice (i.e. Gold Plan and Silver Plan) to make application easier.
6. Does the Plan cover medical expenses if the insured person suffers from serious injury due to a fire accident?
Yes, if a Registered Medical Practitioner confirmed that the insured person's body is in a third degree burns and medical treatment is required for the insured person following an accident, the maximum benefit of the medical expenses will be doubled (maximum benefits per event under Silver Plan and Gold Plan will be increased from HK$30,000 and HK$45,000 to HK$60,000 and HK$90,000 respectively).
7. Under what circumstances will home nursing expenses be covered?
If the insured person is injured due to accident covered by the Plan and incurs reasonable expenses for receiving qualified nursing care service at the insured person's home for a period after being discharged from the hospital, as recommended by a Registered Medical Practitioner, the actual charges for such services will be payable. (up to a maximum of 100 days)
8. Is there any maximum cover period for each "single journey" under the "Annual Travel Protection"?
Yes, the maximum cover period for each single journey is 60 days.
9. Will the insured person's personal notebook computer be covered under the "Annual Travel Protection"?
Yes, "Baggage & Personal Effects" under the "Annual Travel Protection" can be extended to cover the loss or damage to the insured person's personal notebook computer as a result of theft or robbery during the journey.
10. Will the "Annual Travel Protection" protect me from any loss resulting from the Hong Kong Government issuing a "Black Alert" for my scheduled destination?
Yes, the insured person will be protected against the issuance of the "Black Alert" in the following situations:
(1) Prior the journey:
If the "Black Alert" has been issued for the insured person's scheduled destination prior to the departure date, resulting in cancellation of the journey, the insured person will receive compensation for prepaid non-refundable deposits and expenses. However, the insured person can only benefit from this protection if the "Black Alert" has not been issued for the scheduled destination prior to the insured person's confirmation of booking of the scheduled journey.
(2) During the journey:
The issuance of a "Black Alert" for the scheduled destination during the journey

- the insured person's scheduled journey is unavoidably delayed (for more than 8 hours and by means of any kind of transportation vehicle) - one-off cash allowance of HK$1,000 will be granted*
* Remarks:
In the event of curtailment of journey and delayed of journey happened concurrently, each insured person will receive HK$1,000 cash allowance only.

11. Does the "Annual Travel Protection" protect me from any loss of my property due to burglary at my home while I am travelling?
Yes, under the "Annual Travel Protection", the insured person will be compensated for the loss of or damage to home contents due to burglary at his/her unoccupied home during the journey. The maximum amounts payable per journey under Gold Plan and Silver Plan are HK$15,000 and HK$10,000 respectively, and up to HK$3,000 per home content.
12. Are all types of residential buildings covered under the Plan?
In principle, all permanent residential buildings situated in Hong Kong, built and roofed with bricks, stone or concrete are covered under the "Home Protection". However, any residential building over 40 years old and/or property with a gross floor area that exceeds 1,500 square feet will subject to final approval of BOCG Insurance on a case-by-case basis.
13. If the gross floor area of my home is 750 square feet or below, how should I choose the right plan?
In general, you should ensure that the insured amount under the "Home Protection" would be sufficient to cover the replacement costs of your home contents. You should therefore choose a plan according to the insured amount you need.

You may consider any of the following plans:
(1) Gold Plan (Home Contents insured amount up to HK$1,200,000)
(2) Silver Plan (Home Contents insured amount up to HK$1,000,000)
(3) Silver Value Plan/Gold Value Plan (Home Contents insured amount up to HK$600,000)
14. How is the compensation amount for damage to home contents determined?
Compensation amount under the "Home Protection" will be determined on the basis of the costs required to replace the home contents lost or damaged due to accident with new ones.
15. Does the "Domestic Helper Employees' Compensation Cover" under the "Home Protection" cover medical expenses for overseas and/or local domestic helper?
No, the "Domestic Helper Employees' Compensation Cover" under the "Home Protection" only covers the insured's legal liabilities as an employer against any claim in respect of work-related injuries of overseas and/or local domestic helper according to the Employees' Compensation Ordinance and common law. If you wish to have protection for medical expenses for your overseas domestic helper, you can apply the "Domestic Helper Protection" under the optional benefits at the same time.
16. Is there any geographical limitation on "Golfers' Protection"?
No, this protection provides worldwide coverage.
17. How can I obtain "hole-in-one" celebration expenses?
The insured person must accomplish a "hole-in-one" at any recognised golf club during the period of insurance and such achievement must be certified and evidenced by a certificate issued by the recognised golf club in accordance with the normal practice.
18. What is a "recognised golf club"?
Recognised golf club means any golf club with golf course that has 18 holes and 72 pars or above.
19. What protection is provided under the "Fidelity Cover"?
The "Fidelity Cover" protects the employer against the loss of property caused by dishonest behaviour of the domestic helper. Protection may be extended to cover charges for unauthorised long distance calls and necessary expenses actually incurred for the replacement and installation of the main door lock or metal gate lock following the termination of employment contract with the dishonest domestic helper.
20. If I am insured with the "Domestic Helper Protection" and my domestic helper is diagnosed with the specified critical illness, would he/she be entitled to a one-off cash compensation?
No, the compensation will only cover the actual medical expenses incurred in the event of the domestic helper being diagnosed with any of the 12 specified critical illnesses and is required to receive treatment in hospital, medical laboratory, medical imaging centre in Hong Kong or diagnosis or treatment by registered medical practitioner in Hong Kong. (excluding Chinese herbalist treatment)
21. When do I need to make a claim when an accident claim arises?
You should give a written notice to BOCG Insurance as soon as possible and within the 30 days of the occurrence of the claim event and provide all the supporting documents as prescribed by BOCG Insurance from time to time.
22. Will the application be accepted immediately?
If all questions answered under the proposal form are "No" and premium has already been paid for, the application can be instantly approved.
23. Do I need to renew the policy upon its expiry?
No, after successful enrollment for a policy, your policy will be renewed automatically upon successful payment of the premium for the next policy year provided you have not received any notification from BOCG Insurance of any amendment to the terms and/or premium of the policy before the expiry date of every policy year.
